Artificial Intelligence in Contemporary Art: Automation or Creativity?

14:00 — 15:30

By definition, human creativity cannot be automated. Nonetheless, modern art, in contrast to the classical one, has long proclaimed its “no rules” rule and honed its main skill to develop new skills. Therefore, no one is really surprised today that the paintings done by AI are estimated by the world art-market as if there were done by man.

Will the machine attempts at art ever be considered true and authentic and have any cultural value? Who will benefit and who will lose by introducing artificial intelligence into the creative industries? Is contemporary art really a terra incognito where the better human qualities of creative freedom are freely exercised?
