The center of the discussion focuses on an innovative approach to the urban spaces organization, providing for transition from the center/periphery paradigm to the polycentric principle of interaction. Creation of the unique socio-cultural environment, where innovative concepts in education, culture and science receive a powerful impetus for development, determines the university campus development vector as an anchor element of St. Petersburg of the future — a multifunctional complex with numerous architectural monuments. The discussion participants will talk about socio-cultural aspects of development and preservation of the architectural and spatial complex of St. Petersburg State University, under which influence its brand and reputation are being formed as a major scientific and education, cultural, social and innovation center of the world importance. The future of St. Petersburg as a metropolis can be imagined in development of peripheral agglomerations with attractive features of the historical center: museums and theaters, comfortable public spaces, sports facilities and parks, modern educational environment. St. Petersburg State University is rightfully seen at the head as an innovative educational and scientific campus, harmoniously combining science, art and education.
