Literature museums as centers of intellectual tourism: Russia and Europe

The tourism industry is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of world economy. Historical and cultural heritage and literary museums in particular, have tremendous potential for attraction of tourists to the region. The roundtable discussion will focus on important issues related to popularizing and promoting museums, attracting tourists, developing effective forms of interaction with travel companies, creation of additional infrastructure. The participants will discuss the role of museums in local entrepreneurship and business development, in self-identification of regions, interaction of museums with local communities and balancing the issues of accessibility and conservation of various sites of cultural and historical heritage.
