Preservation of Languages of Arctic Indigenous Peoples: New Approaches and Prospects of Development

The Conference suggests constructive opinion exchange between scientists and specialists to give speakers the ground to discuss new methods of teaching, promoting and preserving languages of the Small Indigenous Peoples of the North and ways to expand access to the knowledge and information about the language considering international experience in order to draw attention and increase significance of these languages. Taking experience of working with the youth and using modern technologies for teaching indigenous languages (smart phone application, keeping blogs on YouTube, translations of popular comics into the Nenets, Hanty and other languages, use of language in daily life, involving animators, directors, stage producers, producers, etc.) into account will be an important feature.

The Conference is to result in a final document — a resolution to be communicated to organizations and government establishments to use it in their work. Also, a collection of contemporary practices of using the language of indigenous peoples of the Arctic will be created to distribute among the general public.
