The session will discuss the problem of preserving, studying and publishing handwritten heritage of one of the greatest Russian composers, Nikolay Andreevich Rimsky-Korsakov (1844–1908), whose name the Saint Petersburg Conservatory proudly bears. The participants will discuss music and literature manuscripts, letters, presentation inscriptions, official documents and other autographs of the great composer. Major specialists in the history of Russian music, Russian theory of source studies and textology and Rimsky-Korsakov heritage will take part in this event.

The session will include a lecture, a series of reports and a roundtable discussion. Before the session begins at 11:00, an exhibition of authentic manuscripts of Rimsky-Korsakov will open in the same room. During the session, the exhibits will be used as support and illustration material for speakers.
