Panel Discussion

The Open University as the Digital Cultural Space

10:30 — 12:00
General Staff Building 6/8 Palace sq., St. Petersburg

The discussion is related to the disputes about the digital transformation impact on the university cultural environment.

Will the digital transformation of the universities and the university education become the basis for the harmony of traditions and innovations in culture, the basis for digitalization of the university cultural environment (expositions, museums, botanical gardens, book collections, etc.)?

Nowadays the educational and cultural spaces of the universities complement each other and follow the principles of openness. By creating, along with the educational, the open cultural space using digital technologies, the university increases its potential, becomes a center of attraction for different social and age groups and, what is especially important, attractive and accessible to people with disabilities. The cultural space of the university makes a significant contribution to internationalization of the education. The University culture is a special part of the global culture, it interacts with other types of culture, including the educational culture, from which it once stood out and with which it is reuniting again today.
