Hwang Hee, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea said: "I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to H.E. Olga Lyubimova, the Minister of Culture of Russia, for the invitation to Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum when we had a bilateral meeting at G20 Culture Minister’s Meeting last July. I hope we shall further strengthen the cultural ties between the two countries by holding the Forum safely and successfully even in the context of a global pandemic".
The folklore concert of collectives of the Republic of Korea and Russia promises to be a bright event. The Korean National Modern Dance Troupe will perform the production "Breaking" at the Boris Eifman Children's Dance Theater.
We have big plans for the cinema arts sections. Film screenings of modern Korean cinema are scheduled to accompany meetings with Korean directors, producers and representatives of the film industry. Besides, two amazing exhibitions will take place during the Forum: 'A Tale About Eurasia' will present the art of illustration, while "Korea in Color: Yesterday and Today" will showcase Korean culture through the lens of the palette that graces our day-to-day routine. The audience will see not only conventional artifacts in traditional Korean colors, but also works of modern artists inspired with traditional motifs.
Two years ago, the VIII Saint Petersburg International Cultural Forum was visited by the official delegation of the Republic of Korea, headed in 2019 by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Park Yang-woo. The visit of the distinguished guests preceded the Year of Cultural Exchanges between Russia and Korea in 2020.
