Prior to joining the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, from 2007 to 2018 Astghik worked in one of the leading art museums of Armenia, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts, starting her museum career as an Assistant Registrar. In 2016 Astghik took on the role of Director of Education of CCA. As the Director of Education for Cafesjian Center for the Arts she was responsible for the education policy of Center, defining and planning the overall education objectives, supervising the realisation of educational programs for schools, adults and families, as well as community outreach programming, concert series, rentals and special events.
She took her current job at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport in Armenia as the Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Folk Arts in 2018. She is involved in policy development of cultural heritage of the country, including museum sector, monuments, libraries, intangible cultural heritage, publishing, as well as import and export of cultural properties.
Astghik has been actively involved in diverse arts and cultural initiatives and programs, also curated numerous art exhibitions. In 2019 she was selected as a participant of the International Visitor Leadership Program, organized and funded by the U.S. Department of State, with focus on the topic Arts Management. She is also alumni of the British Museum International Training Program.
Astghik Marabyan is the author of many albums-catalogues of various exhibitions. In 2016 she also co-wrote the Museum Education Handbook.
