Branka Djukic

Ms. Djukic’s most professional engagement is associated with Tanjug News Agency, where she has become the first appointed Editor-in-Chief.

She was appointed for director of Tanjug News Agency in 2009, also as the first woman in the post and, for the first time since the Agency’s establishment, following a public competition.

With her team she has made Tanjug News Agency an accurate, credible and reliable source and partner on the media market, as well as partner of the corporate and non-governmental sectors in Serbia and the region. The Agency, which has been both professionally and financially challenged, was rebranded, even though it did not changed its name.

Ms. Djukic for her work has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Award for Excellence of the European Alliance of News Agencies for modernizing and transforming Tanjug News Agency.

She obtained a degree in philosophy at the University of Belgrade — Faculty of Philosophy with a graduation thesis titled “Historyism and historicism, from Husserl to Habermas”. For a short while, she has worked at the Ministry of Information of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Milan Panic’s government.
