Günther Hasenkamp

Günther Hasenkamp has been director of the Goethe-Institut in St Petersburg since 2017. He worked for the Goethe-Institut in Munich, Budapest, Moscow, Almaty, Cairo and Amman. Studies in Göttingen and Birmingham, doctorate in philology at the University of Hamburg. Selectd cultural projects and publications: "German-Russian Cultural Encounters 2004", "Arab Shorts. Independent Short Films and Media Art", "The Documentary Campus MENA Workshops", "Next to here. Young Photographers from the Middle East", "Forum on Culture and Politics (2011)", "Forum on Culture and Humanitarian Relief" (2015).

Publications incluide several textbooks for German as a foreign language. Edited "1001 Pages. Books for Young Readers" (2016), the interview collection "Positions: Arab World" (2014) and "Wim Wenders — A Film Journal" (2016).
