Kerim Takhirov

Kerim Magomed Ogly Takhirov graduated from the Faculty of Library Science of Baku State University in 1978. In 1978–1982 he occupied various posts at the National Library of Azerbaijan.

Since 2005, he has served as Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan. Professor Takhirov teaches at the Faculty of Library and Information science of BSU and the Republican Center for Pre-Service and In-Service Training of Workers of Cultural Establishments, thus helping educate young highly qualified professionals. In 2012 he was awarded Associate Professorship at the Department of Library Studies, and in 2013 was promoted to Full Professorship.

Since 2006, he has served as chairman of the State Examination Commission for Library Studies, Bibliography and Book Science at Baku State University; since 2007, as chairman of the expert commission at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and since 2013, as chairman of the Science Council at the National Library.
