Lyudmila Dmitrievna Fomicheva heads the Union of Journalists of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region after her election on June 4, 2011, at the VII Congress of the Union. On May 29, 2015, delegates of the VIII Congress elected her the Chairman of the Union for a second term.
She began working as a correspondent for the newspaper Novy Put. She worked as the editor-in-chief of the Baltiysky Luch newspaper, as a columnist and editor-in-chief of the Petersburg branch of ITAR-TASS. From February 1994 to the summer of 1996 - press secretary of the mayor of St. Petersburg, Anatoly Sobchak. In 1996, she started working at ITAR-TASS again. In April 1999, she became the press secretary of the General Director of Baltika Breweries. Since 2002 — Advisor, Press Secretary of the Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov. Since 2003 — President of CJSC Interfax-North-West.
In 2011, heading the Union of Journalists, Lyudmila Fomicheva became the chairman of the supervisory board of the “Golden Pen” contest.
In September 2012, Lyudmila Fomicheva became the laureate of the first prize “Influential Women of St. Petersburg”, established by the newspaper “Business Petersburg”.
On March 1, 2017, she headed the INPO “St. Petersburg Information Support Center”, which has been the managing company of the Journalist’s House since 2007 Honored Worker of Culture of Russia. In 2018, she was awarded “For Merit to St. Petersburg”.
