Lyudmila Narbekova

Director of the Erzya Mordovian Museum of Visual Arts.
Born on April 7, 1964 in Saransk. In 1983, she entered the Mukhina Higher Art Industrial School. 1988–2004, she was a teacher at the Saransk Art School. Since 2004, she has been the Director of the Erzya Mordovian Museum of Visual Arts, and since 2017 — Chairperson of the Union of Artists of the Republic of Mordovia. Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

A well-known painter heavily engaged in creative work, she is an exhibitor of the highest level collective and personal exhibitions in Russia and abroad every year. Her works can be found in the Erzya Mordovian Museum of Visual Arts, the Savitsky Penza Art Gallery, the City Art Gallery (Sarov), the House of Nationalities (Moscow), private collections in Russia, Germany, Italy, Finland, and France. She is a fashion designer artist successfully combining creative and pedagogical work, Professor at the Department of Design and Advertising of the Institute of National Culture under the Ogarev Mordovian State University who has brought up an entire stellar cast of creative fashion designers successfully working in the chosen field; the collections of her works have been awarded at the most prestigious Russian high fashion competitions. Presently, she continues to pass her experience and extensive knowledge on to students.
