In 1976 graduated from the theatre department of LGITMiK. Started to teach. Almost immediately, she began to regularly publish in the journal "Theatre", which was a rarity for Leningrad theatre experts in those years. And then in all Russian magazines and newspapers, as well as in publications in England, Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, France, Estonia, etc.
Over the years, she led the theatre sections in programs on St. Petersburg television. The author of more than 2000 articles in theatrical periodicals, as well as the books “Rezo Gabriadze Theatre” (2005), “Conversations” (2010), “Hunting Books” (in three volumes, 2010), “Other Conversations” (2019), compiler “About Volodin. First memories", the first (2004) and second (2006) books. She is also the author and compiler of the collection “Teachers” (2014), the collection “Uncensored: Young Theatre Directing of the 21st Century” (2016).
In 1992, with a group of young critics, organised the "Petersburg Theatre Magazine", became its editor in chief, and since 1998, its director. PTZ has become the central theatrical publication in Russia, in some years remaining the only uninterruptedly published thick theatre magazine.
Since 2002, together with director Viktor Ryzhakov, have been organising and conducting a large theatre festival named after Alexander Volodin.
