His work as a theatre manager in St Michaels theatre in 2005 included being on the board for the creation of the Dunbrody Arts Festival in New Ross Wexford. In 2006, he was one of the co-founders of Gorlliatone, a production company which raised 5,000 euro for Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland with a sold-out music show in the Village venue in Dublin.
In more recent years Robert has worked extensively as part of the Reel World film festival in Toronto Canada and in 2016 become the social media marketing manager for the Fingal Film Festival. Outside of this Robert returned to education in 2014 completing a Diploma in Film Production. Robert has produced and directed several short films and music videos. His short film LUCID, a stop motion animated horror film was shot exclusively on a mobile phone and was an awards contender at several film festivals getting considerable notice at the Super 9 film festival in Portugal and 300 seconds film festival in Canada.
In 2017 he started the Dublin Smartphone Film Festival, Ireland’s first smartphone film festival dedicated to films short on Smartphones. The festival is led by Robert Fitzhugh.
