Studied film production in the New York Film Academy in the US. Upon graduation, directed his first film, "Nandigram's Tears". The plot of the film is documentary in nature and is dedicated to the successful struggle of local residents against construction of a chemical plant in an Indian village.
This film has won numerous awards worldwide, including awards at Jagran Festival in New Dehli and the Indian Film Festival in Berlin. Having understood the idea, and being inspired by the Indian Film Festival in Berlin, Mr. Alam organized the Indian Film Festival in Russia.
