Sergei Tcherkasski PhD, DSc (Theatre Arts) is a theatre director, professor and Head of the Acting Studio at Russian State Institute of Performing Arts (St. Petersburg Theatre Arts Academy, founded in 1779). He has directed more than three dozen productions, two of them — Dangerous Liaisons and Great Catherine — ran in Saint Petersburg for twelve and sixteen years respectively. He has led workshops for actors and directors in 40 major theatre schools in 17 countries; has directed at RADA (London), NIDA (Sydney), NTI (USA), etc. His books include Stanislavsky and Yoga (Routledge, 2016, also in three other languages); Sulimov’s School of Directing (2013) and award-winning Acting: Stanislavsky — Boleslavsky — Strasberg. History, Theory and Practice (2016, Best Theatre Book, 2016, International Stanislavsky Prize, 2017).
