Shannon O’Donnell

Speaker
Writer, traveler and public speaker.
United States of America
Shannon is a responsible tourism advocate, and named a National Geographic Traveler of the Year for her work helping travelers use tourism as a force for good.

As a consultant, she works with emerging tourism destinations to develop sustainable tours, branding, and marketing that create a win for local communities while driving targeted international tourism interest—most recently she worked throughout 2017 and 2018 on tourism projects in Kyrgyzstan. Through her writing, photography, and speaking she also shares stories that encourage other travelers to not only explore the world, but to understand how their travel choices impact local communities and cultures. She founded both A Little Adrift and Grassroots Volunteering, which is the world’s largest database of social enterprises empowering travelers to connect to causes and communities in the places they travel.
