PhD in literature
Born in 1958, Zhao Shiju is a PhD in literature. He is now a professor of College of Chinese Language and Literature of Wuhan University, member of the University Affairs Committee, director of National Institute of Chinese Language Matters and Social Development Center of State Language Commission, and the executive deputy director of Hanban teaching resources research and development base of Chinese international promotion. He is also a member of the Chinese teaching steering committee of institution of higher learning, vice president and general secretary of Postgraduate Steering Research Society about International Chinese Teaching, standing director of the Lexicographical Society of China and Chinese Language Policy and Planning Research Society, as well as the director of Chinese Linguistics Society and Chinese Exegetics Society. Apart from these, he is also the deputy director of editorial committee of Studies on Cultural Soft Power, editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Language Policy and Planning, Li Yun Academie Journal, Journal of Language Planning, Language Policy and Language Education, Academic Journal and other journals, as well as the part-time researcher of many universities like Zhejiang University.
He mainly studies Chinese linguistics, language policy and planning, language communication, Chinese culture, higher education and so on. He has published more than ten academic works such as Language and Country, Study on the Modifier-Head Construction of Mencius and Opinion of Chinese Study. He has presided over the establishment of 985 Project interdisciplinary innovation platform of language science and technology and contemporary social construction, teaching resources research and development base of Chinese international promotion, National Institute of Chinese Language Matters and Social Development Center, Chinese Language and Literature Practice Teaching Center of Wuhan University among many other important platforms. His many academic achievements have been cited or reviewed by scholars home and abroad. And he has been invited to give lectures or participated in important academic activities in over ten universities in United States, France, Britain and Japan, and served as a visiting professor in the department of Chinese Language and Literature of the Seventh University of Paris.
