What does heritage mean for the society, how fast development of technologies influences city life, how can we find the right approach to restoring monuments? Experts of the section discuss important issues like these every year, and share the experiences of how these and many other issues are being solved in different countries and cultural traditions.
In 2021, the section will present a program for three anniversaries: 75th anniversary of the end of World War II, 30th anniversary of the entry of St. Petersburg and the surrounding area into the UNESCO World Heritage List, and the 60th anniversary of the first manned space flight. A special feature will be the three-day international conference about manor civilization.
In 2019 the Section brought together more than 60 experts from 12 countries for a professional discussion on the future of monument cities, on finding forced compromises while preserving unique architectural objects and new heritage.
