For many years the Forum raises important questions about the place and the role of traditional culture in the modern society to make professionals in field of preservation of cultural variety of the planet and intangible global cultural heritage, such as national customs, languages, music and dance, join their efforts.

Traditionally, within this section’s framework, much attention is paid to the folklore of the peoples of Russia and the CIS. An important event this year will be a symposium dedicated to the oriental musical tradition of makam.

Programme

In 2019 the section proved once again that traditions can become a popular trend and foundation of successful business, crafts can turn into a creative industry and folklore can help bring new ideas into music.
